Recipe: Limonim Hamoutzim from Ilana


In 2007, Ilana shared this recipe for sour pickled lemons.

12 lemons
3 tablespoons coarse salt
1 tablespoon paprika
3 bay leaves
12 peppercorns
1/2 cup (or more) olive oil

Boil the whole lemons for 20 minutes. Drain. Cut lemons into quarters. Layer lemon quarters into clean jar adding salt, paprika, peppercorns, and bayleaves as you go. when all the lemons are layered in the jar cover with olive oil. Close the jar tightly. Pickles will be ready in 6 months.
