Janice: Hi! The first picture is taken from the roof of the garage, which is the wall on the right in the picture above. Val was looking down on the backyard and the trellises and me on the ladder.
The little yew tree in the right of the “after” picture (taken from the backyard looking back at the house and trellises) is pictured in the first photo at the bottom left.
Ilana: Yes every year I feel a little sad and bare when we cut back the vine, but the winter sunlight is much gentler now and it lights up the deck and the kitchen nicely.

it looks so bare, and no shade. Can’t wait for the new leaves to come.

Hi, Mom! Me too — but they’ll be back soon enough. And I think I’m going to transplant a vine to the front of the house, too… shade for the front!

I need orientation. Are the two pictures from opposite sides? I’m looking at the evergreen. Does one show the house and the other something else?
