Another still day at the Honey Pot

Another still day with the still life. A good day. No full-blown vertigo spells, a little general dizziness. Thanks for all the love! Now some drying time for the little painting.

Keeping with June, my 92 year old mentor, I’m going to ask you what are you going to glaze it with?”, possibly brown iron oxide, or, the same with some sap green? As you can see, I’m a great believer in glazing and found it to be very effective.
To another subject, GUESS WHAT?! Just this morning, while making “creative” pancakes (and this is a whole new subject I’ll tell you about another time), I broused through a kitchen drawer and found the yet two accounted for but missing kitchen cleavers. One is like Val’s, but half as wide - it’s complement, and the other, a heavier, somewhat wider, with the wooden handle. Both were also in the back of a drawer for years, dormant. The only one that is missing is the curved wooden handle cleaver that someone stole at UNO. Does Val have some good memories of those two? Anyhow, Deet will not have to hunt for knives in Singapore (unless a curved cleaver is essential to kitchen work - and the chinese are expert in fine peeling of apples, pears and papayas with that heavy one, I could never figure it out.

Ilana — I’m thinking brown iron oxide for the glaze. I am very thankful that you showed me that technique, because it works great and really has become part of my process now.
And about the knives: That is so neat!!

Aha, I suspected the knife I have isn’t the one from home. Glad you found it! The wide one you have is the one I used to use — it was my favorite tool in the kitchen. I didn’t use the curved one much. For peeling, I use a peeler

Val, there were two sets, one set of solid metal, you have the wide one, it is from home and I found a narrower one, about half it’s width. The second set was of the heavier knives, with the wooden handles, and of this set the curved knife, or rather cleaver/chopper, is gone. Shall I pack these two and mail them to you? I’ll be glad to do so. Keep chopping and cooking.

Thanks, Mom, but I think I have enough, and I’m tight on space. Perhaps Deet wants them? In any case, please don’t get rid of them without asking one of us. Try to get some use out of them yourself!
